Cryoskin VS Coolsculpting: Doctor’s Review, Commonalities & Differences

Cryoskin or Coolsculpting, that’s the question. Both these procedures use cold exposure, but they have much more differences than you could guess. And we’ve revealed them all in our article.

We all want to look stunning and feel good about our reflection in the mirror. We often make sacrifices for it and give up our favorite tasty foods, sweat in the gym, and count calories. But this doesn’t always produce the results we crave.

Then we turn to cosmetology. Although even here it is not so simple. There are a lot of procedures with strange names, but the effect should be astonishing everywhere. Choosing the right one is a real challenge. To help you solve it, we’ll tell you about the differences between cold treatments — Cryoskin and Coolsculpting. What is Cryoskin?

CryoSkin

Cryoskin is a non-invasive alternative to various fat removal procedures. It uses cooling technology to freeze and destroy fat cells and instantly reduce fat.

Cryoskin is a subtype of cryotherapy, although they are not the same thing. Cryotherapy has a broader spectrum of effects, while Cryoskin is applied mainly to burn fat cells, increase collagen production and improve the appearance of the skin. As a result, you can expect cellulite, fine lines, wrinkles, and fat reduction.

Cryoskin is split into several types. You can usually see cryoskin toning, cryoskin slimming, and cryoskin facial. We’ll try to describe the difference briefly.

Cryoskin toning is commonly applied to reduce cellulite. This procedure takes 20 minutes. Cold is utilized to improve microcirculation, resulting in increased collagen production. It is collagen that influences the shrinkage of cellulite and generally slows down aging.

Cryoskin slimming is the most popular procedure of these three and takes 28 minutes. It is used for areas such as the belly, thighs, or arms most often. But only one part is affected at a time. It begins with a 2-minute heating at 40ºC, then a 12-minute cold application at -8ºC is applied to the problem areas. This combination of heat and cold helps to break down fat cells.

Cryoskin Facial is used, of course, for the face. It also stimulates the production of collagen through the effects of cold. This helps to reduce signs of aging, such as wrinkles, and generally increases skin elasticity.

What is Coolsculpting?

Cryoskin vs Coolsculpting

Coolsculpting is a brand name for another fat-freezing method called cryolipolysis. The FDA approved it in 2010. It is a figure correction technique based on the effects of low temperatures and a vacuum. Using a vacuum, the skin fold is pulled inside a manipula with cooling elements on the inner sides. During the procedure, the tissues are simultaneously massaged by the vacuum and intensively cooled.

The doctor leaves the vacuum in place for about 1 to 3 hours. During this time, the process destroys about 20-25% of the fat cells in the affected area. After cooling, the fatty tissue becomes inflamed and eventually dies off. Vessels, epidermis, or nerve cells are not damaged — only the fat is destroyed. This technique is sometimes referred to as cryoliposuction or cold liposculpture of the body.

The effectiveness of this technique is very high: just one cryolipolysis procedure allows for reducing the body volume by one size. However, the effect is not immediate, fatty tissue will be destroyed gradually over 2-4 months after the session. The first noticeable result appears after 3 weeks on average.

Сommon features Cryoskin and Coolsculpting

Since the two procedures seem similar, we have highlighted a few main points:

  • Cold exposure;
  • Non-invasive treatment;
  • They both are used to get rid of stubborn fat.

In all other respects, these procedures are different. We’ll tell you more about that next.

Cryoskin vs Coolsculpting

The differences between Cryoskin & Coolsculpting

Although both procedures involve the use of cold, the processes are different. Coolsculpting requires more patience, but only once, while Cryoskin will require at least 1.5-2 months of regular visits (every two weeks). We decided to create a table to structure all the differences — so it will be easier for you to compare these procedures.

CryoskinCoolsculpting
ProcessIn the Cryoskin procedure, problem areas are treated with a wand, alternating between hot and cold to destroy the fat cells. Within 2-3 weeks after the procedure, the fat cells pass through the lymphatic system and are excreted with the urine. With the help of a special device, the selected area of the skin is sucked up with a vacuum. The principle consists of strictly controlled cooling of the fat tissue, which has proven to be extremely sensitive to cold. The fat cells are being signaled to self-destruct and are eliminated from the body naturally after disintegration.
Time1 session takes 20-30 mins1 session takes 1-3 hours on average
PainSince the procedure is quite fast and does not require “suction”, it feels relaxing rather than painful.A lot of people felt pain during the procedure.
ResultsThe first results you’ll see in 2-3 weeks, then you have to repeat the session. The results show up over several months, from 2 to 4.
SessionsIt depends on a person, but usually, 3 to 5 sessions are needed to get visible results.Coolsculpting is a one-and-done treatment
Side effectsThis procedure is not unpleasant and you will either feel the same or a little refreshed. Some patients have reported bruising or sensitive skin after the procedure, but this passes quickly.
Cost1 session costs $350, but you usually need more sessions.Single treatment cost is $2000-$4000 on average.

🤨You may ask: Which is better after all? If you сonsider the price and speed of the effect, Cryoskin wins. Coolsculpting, on the other hand, is done only once and has a long-lasting effect, while Cryoskin requires several sessions and more time. So it all depends on your priorities, but the main thing is that you get the effect in both.

Coolsculpting before&after

“I had Coolsculpting on my thighs! It went more than well for me. I did it about a month ago, after the procedure I left a mark, similar to a bruise, but not very strong and it was quickly resolved. I was measured before the procedure and after a couple of weeks, I was minus 2 cm in the thighs. They promise to continue the weight loss process for 2 months after the procedure. I measure myself, after a month -4 cm! Even if nothing else is gone, I am still happy — very noticeable! My girlfriends are jealous! I send everyone to cryolipolysis, a very cool procedure, worth the money!”

Alternatives to Cryoskin & Coolsculpting

SculpSure

SculpSure is the world’s first hyperthermic laser for non-invasive lipolysis. It is used to perform body contouring, which destroys fat cells resistant to exercise and diet without damaging the skin. You can find more about it and similar procedures in this article.

Through the use of patented technology, SculpSure is a non-invasive technique that destroys fat cells with clinically proven efficacy and safety. The laser has a flexible applicator for treatments on different areas of the body. The SculpSure laser emits a wavelength of 1060 nm; the procedure lasts about 25 minutes. Patients can achieve the desired results without rehabilitation or surgery.

Endosphere Therapy

This is a popular non-invasive method that helps to make your figure slimmer and tighter. This procedure is capable of reducing your volume by about 10 cm in just one course! At the same time, the skin becomes tighter, not sagging, as after hard diets. An additional bonus is also the reduction of cellulite.

The essence of the endosphere is the application of compression micro-vibration. The treatment is performed with an apparatus with a nozzle equipped with a set of rotating rollers. They are arranged in such a way that not only vibration but also pressure acts on the tissues. Because of this endosphere provides the most profound effect. It speeds up the metabolic processes, eliminates stagnant lymph, and helps remove excess fluid from the body.

The result of using the endosphere is immediately visible because after the first session the patients reduce the volume by 1-2 cm, which is a very good result. It is recommended to take at least 6-12 procedures for the full effect.

Fat-burning machines

Sometimes you don’t want to go to cosmetology or anywhere else at all, we understand. That’s why we remind you that there are also home devices based on light therapy to help you cope with stubborn excess fat. They can also be useful for improving blood flow and even reducing wrinkles.

Fat-burning machines are a kind of non-invasive treatment that uses wavelengths of light (600 to 1000 nm) and radio waves as well. As a result, they penetrate your skin and burn fat cells. These machines can become your favorite home gadget if you’ll try them once.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a plastic aesthetic surgery that corrects body contours by eliminating fat deposits. It is performed on various parts of the body to correct volume. Liposuction has been one of the top three most popular plastic surgeries in the United States and Europe since 2015.

The main indication is the presence of fat deposits, from which it is impossible to get rid of through diets, physical activity, and other non-surgical methods. Surgical removal of fat is recommended in cases:

  1. Dissatisfaction with their figure after childbirth, especially if “fat traps” are present on the hips of the abdomen back.
  2. Visual disturbance of the contours of the body.
  3. Tendency to accumulate fat, especially in the abdominal area.

By the way, it is believed that liposuction is a “female” operation. It is also performed on men.

Summary

There are many more cold receptors in the body than heat receptors — about 8 times more. Therefore, sub-zero temperatures can affect tissues and organs much more deeply and intensively. And that’s why the cold is so good at breaking down fat cells in the body, as you could see.

So what is the answer to the main question — Cryoskin or Coolsculpting? We would probably prefer cryoskin, but we’re sure that both of these procedures will produce results. Review the comparison chart, listen to yourself, your desires, and your abilities, and you can choose the best option for you.
