Cryoskin Treatment: Full Review & Reasons To Do (Or Not)

Cryoskin — an efficient treatment or just another hype topic? We have gathered all the evidence from clinical studies and customer reviews to reveal the truth and make a choice as simple as possible.

Cryoskin is already a rather sensational procedure that you’ve probably heard of.

Eyewitnesses say that it gives some incredible results in fighting fat in stubborn places and tightening the skin. In addition, it is a non-invasive method, which can be called an alternative to surgery. It has something in common with another popular method, Coolsculpting, and yet it is a different procedure. Or rather, even three procedures.

Even if you have not heard about cryoskin, it’s even better, because our article will be most useful to you. You’ll end up with the answer to the big question: is it worth it and why? Spoiler alert: yes, but…

What is Cryoskin treatment?

Cryoskin treatment

The Cryoskin treatment is a technique of treating fat cells first with heat and then with cold to break down the fat using a special machine. After all, cold is known to help kill fat very effectively. Cryoskin is a subspecies of cryotherapy, but not the same thing. This technology focuses on dermatological advantages and primarily affects the condition of your skin.

The classic treatment lasts 28 minutes and begins with a heat exposure (briefly, 2 minutes). Then the temperature is reduced to -8°C, but don’t worry, it doesn’t feel super cold. This is completed with another heated massage to help get rid of the fat cells. As a result, they are killed and then eliminated through the lymphatic system and urine. This process imitates the natural process of apoptosis in the body.

One of the main advantages of Cryoskin can be called non-invasiveness. This procedure will not cause any pain, and some even claim that it helps you relax and enjoy those half hours.

What are the other pros? Because of this procedure, you don’t have to put off other things, you can get back to them almost immediately. At most, what will change in your appearance is a slight redness in the cryoskin area.

And finally, you don’t have to think about infections, or needles — because it doesn’t require direct surgical intervention!

Types of Cryoskin treatment

There are three types of Cryoskin: Cryoslimming, Cryotoning, and Cryofacial. Of course, they all use the technique of applying cold to certain parts of the body. However, there is a difference in the duration of the procedures and the areas where it is applied. But first things first.

Cryo slimming

Cryosliming is the most popular procedure of the three. It is most often used for the abdomen, back, arms or thighs. It goes exactly as I described above.

Even though you lose extra centimeters during cryo slimming, this procedure is not suitable for people who are overweight. It is rather for those who are close to their ideal weight but have areas of the body where stubborn fat does not want to leave e.g. saddlebags, muffin tops, bat wings, and double-chins.

Note: Cryosliming cannot be performed on the breasts (in both men and women). These areas are glandular and therefore cold exposure is not recommended.

Cryo slimming

Cryo toning

Cryotoning is a procedure aimed at increasing microcirculation in the affected area. It helps increase the production of collagen and elastin, which are needed to fight sagging skin. So, cryo toning is most often used to reduce cellulite and fight signs of aging.

The CryoToning process is similar to CryoSlimming, but no heat is used here. And in general, it is not used to remove fat, but rather to improve the appearance of the skin.

Cryo toning is also ideal for athletes who do not have enough subcutaneous tissue to be considered candidates for CryoSlimming, but who still want to increase skin definition and tighten the skin.

Cryo toning

Cryo facial

Cryo facial is the fastest of these procedures and takes no more than 20 mins. It can help improve your complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and increase collagen production. Reduction of pigmentation and narrowing of pores can be considered additional bonuses. Most people see results after the first session, although it is recommended to do at least 2-3 sessions.

This treatment works so that cold and heat compress and then dilate your blood vessels, making your skin look healthy and glowing as blood flow to your skin increases.

There are no restrictions for those who are going to have a Cryoskin facial, as it is a safe procedure for anyone who wants to have glowing and refreshed facial skin.

Cryoskin before & after

A picture is worth a thousand words, we understand you. When you see the real results of people, it is easier to believe in the effectiveness of the procedure. However, we would like to warn you: in most cases, people combine Cryoskin with a healthy diet, fitness, or active lifestyle. It is in combination that this gives really impressive results.

Cryo slimming

As we said, Cryo slimming is most often done on the abdomen or back. However, there are also other cases (for example, a double-chin can also be reduced by this procedure).

Cryo toning

The results of Cryo toning are best seen in areas where there is cellulite. But don’t forget, the procedure can also be performed on other areas where you have flabby skin that you want to tighten.

What science says about Cryoskin

Despite all the hype around Cryoskin, there are not many real scientific studies on the subject yet. However, let’s talk about the ones that are already out there.

Dr. Philippe Blanchmaison of the Societe Francaise d’Accreditation Sante conducted a 60-day clinical study [1] to evaluate the effectiveness of weight loss with Cryoskin technology on the abdominal area. The subjects were 16 females (waist circumference up to 95 cm) and males (waist circumference up to 102 cm) between 18 and 70 years of age.

They ended up getting 5 treatments every 15 days and most of them saw impressive results. 43.8% of subjects showed the effect of slimming, 87.5% — reshaping (general aesthetics), and 100% — improvement in skin quality (toning, firmness, and smoothness). Below you can see the self-evaluation of subjects based on the questionnaire.

As a bottom line, 15 subjects showed an average reduction in waist circumference of 1.85 in. (5.96% reduction). In addition, there was an 18.96% (0.13 inch) decrease in subcutaneous fat.

Another study [2] was more general, to determine the effectiveness of cryotherapy in slimming the abdomen and saddlebags. It was conducted over 15 days, and the subjects were 30 women from 18 to 45 years old.

Bottom line, the results were less pronounced (given the short duration of the study), but 28 of the 30 women did notice a slight improvement in their abdominal area.

Other research [3] concerns cryolipolysis, which is better known as Coolsculpting. This is a similar method because it also involves exposure to cold (you can find out more about it in our other article). Most patients had significant and satisfactory results during cryolipolysis without any serious side effects.

What customers say about Cryoskin

Cryoskin

On the whole, far more clients are satisfied with the procedure than the other way around. It is quite advantageous compared to the alternatives, it takes little time and does not cause unpleasant feelings. Let us show you a few reviews:

“The cryoskin procedure was pretty cold but extremely effective for me”

“I was nervous about making an appointment. At first, I googled everything I could. All I can say is that everything is perfect and I can’t wait for a second and third procedure. I highly recommend this procedure before resorting to cold sculpting or other surgical methods. At first, I was skeptical, but now I truly believe. I lost 2.3 inches in one session.”

“I started my Cryoskin sessions in June 2020. I was embarrassed about my back and always covered it with clothes. I also had excess fat above my waist. I am so glad to say it worked for me and I don’t have to hide my back any longer. At my height of 5’4 140 pounds, I had a few stubborn areas that needed to be worked on. Before that, I had a lot of pain in my back and hips. Cryoskin was very helpful with the pain as well.”

However, all bodies are individual and it can happen that you will not see significant results or they will be mixed:

“I have had 5 sessions in each of the following areas.
Cryofacial — I noticed an improvement, but no one else appeared to notice.
Cryoslimming arms — I lost about 1 inch on each arm, from 13 inches to 12 inches.
Cryoslimming of inner thighs — no results.
Cryotoning arms — noticeable difference for me, much less flabby skin.
Considering the cost of $300 for the procedure, I’d say it’s a high price to pay for my mixed results.”

Rules to follow before and after treatment

Rules to follow before and after treatment

Nothing complicated will be required of you before or after Cryoskin. The rules that we describe below can rather be classified as tips to make your procedure as effective as possible.

Before Cryoskin

  • We strongly recommend not consuming sugar at least 2 hours before Cryoskin. This applies to fast sugars and slow sugars (pasta, rice, bread, cereals, fruit, alcohol).

The reason is that sugar is a powerful source of energy for fat cells. Cold weakens and retracts the fat cells, but if you eat sugar, it will give it energy back, so the effect of apoptosis will be less effective (if at all).

  • It’s best not to do any workouts two hours (or less) before the procedure. This may make it harder for your body to cool down and reduce the effectiveness of Cryoskin.

After Cryoskin

  • Sugar should also be avoided after the procedure. At least 2 hours is desirable, but 4-5 is better.
  • We advise you to drink a lot of water. 1.5 liters a day for the entire process (2 weeks to 10 weeks, depending on the number of sessions)
  • We also strongly recommend eating lean protein, fresh fruits, and vegetables for the entire course of treatment.
  • If you want to do a workout after the procedure, that’s okay.
  • For Cryo Slimming, it is optimal to wait 3-4 days after the procedure before going to the sauna, as apoptosis is usually most active after 4 days.

You can also increase the effectiveness of the treatment with a healthy lifestyle and a proper diet. And also by adding a powerful drainage treatment in depth (lots of water, walking, exercise).

Who is not a good candidate for Cryoskin

Cryoskin is a safe procedure when you don’t have any health issues. But stay away from it if you have any of the following:

  • Severe Raynaud’s syndrome
  • People who suffer from very poor circulation
  • Liver disease
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Severe diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Kidney disease
  • Any progressive disease

Summary

Cryoskin can be your salvation if pockets of stubborn fat prevent you from fully enjoying your body and feeling confident. We recommend Cryo slimming for areas of the abdomen, back, arms, or for example a double chin. Cryo toning is an excellent treatment for getting rid of cellulite. And Cryo facial — if you want to improve skin tone and reduce wrinkles.

Also, don’t forget that it is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eat right, exercise, and then your well-being will always be on top of your game. And treatments like Cryoskin, Coolsculpting, or other non-surgical body sculpting procedures can help you achieve even better results.
